AVID Capstone: Identity, Vision, Reflection, & Research

"Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture." ~Norman Vincent Peale

On your first day in this course, you were given an opportunity to contact a college and were encouraged to educate yourself about a prospective college and career. Here's why! You will present your project to a a panel, which may include your principal, our guidance counselor, and members of the AVID Site Team. This should be your BEST--your attire, polished work, and dynamic communication skills show that you have advanced via your individual determination.

Components:

*Research a college you are interested in possibly attending and a career you would like to pursue.

*Engage in a job shadowing experience. Share your reflections about this opportunity within your writing piece.

*Compose a writing piece sharing your research on a prospective college and career, as well as your insights gleaned from your job shadowing experience, complete with proper citations.

*Deliver a dynamic presentation to the class educating us about who you are (IDENTITY), where you are going (VISION), resources to get you there (RESEARCH), and how you are putting yourself in a position to make your dreams happe (REFLECTION).
